To heal is to make whole. Whole-person wellness will only be achieved when we address the entirety of the person and understand that we are interconnected beings.
Hippocrates, often cited as the father of Western medicine, advised physicians to observe patient's life circumstances and emotional states in order to practice holistically. He stated that "the natural force within each of us is the greatest healer of all."
A holistic approach involves listening to how seemingly unrelated parts of life weave together and then incorporating these parts into an integrative practice. That is why my coaching practice begins with a holistic assessment, examining all 8 dimensions of wellness and then determining where you are on the wellness spectrum.
Take a moment to think about the interconnectedness of it all--mind, body, spirit, emotions, environment. All parts of our bodies and minds are in constant conversation. We have a relationship with each piece of the whole. We have relationships with food, our bodies, people, exercise, our jobs, money and sleep. We have a relationship with our habits, emotions and patterns of thinking.
In wellness coaching we do the deep work to discover the root causes of your current behaviors. To address the symptoms, we look at the whole person. We explore where you want to go and create a map to get there that is personal to you and sustainable for you. We combine lifestyle medicine, coaching psychology and the science of human change into a single healing and holistic modality.
Wellness coaching and embracing a holistic mindset can be the catalyst to create whole-person transformation!
